About Me

Mr. Ali Sukru Cetinkaya (PhD.) is an Assistant Proffessor at Selcuk University, Vocational School of Silifke - Tasucu, in the field of Tourism Administration and Hospitality Management. Çetinkaya is a Visiting Research Scholar at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Pumplin College of Business, Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Blacksburg, Virginia, USA, since August 2011.  

Cetinkaya has over 5 years of industry experiance. He worked at İstanbul Hilton, Mersin Hilton, Kusadasi Pine Park and Istanbul Aksaray TUI Travel Agency and many other hospitality and tourism establishments, in the departments of food and beverage, reception, housekeeping, tour operations (tour planning, production, marketing and tour leading), ticketing (both manuel and computerized), congress and conference organization, and recreation and animation.

Cetinkaya has a special interest on Information Technologies, especially the effects of IT in the hospitality and tourism industry. He has many national and international researches targeting IT in tourism and hospitality industry. He holds Informatics Certificate (by Middle-East Technical University).

He is a co-author of a text book named "Management in Hospitality and Tourism Organizations Under the Light of Information Technologies: An Informatics Viewpoint" (2003, Nobel Yayin Dagitim, Turkey, ISBN: 975 - 591 - 469 - 2).

He is a co-outher of editor-managed research book named "Progress in Tourism Marketing" (ELSEVIER, London, 2006, ISBN: 0-08-045040-7).

Cetinkaya is Executive Co-editor of HOSTEUR (for Future Hospitality & Tourism Professionals, A student webzine from the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education) and Editorial Board Member of Journal of Hospitality Marketing & Management (JHMM by Haworth Press Inc.).

Cetinkaya has successfully accomplished four different EU funded Leonardo da Vinci Projects, one CEDEFOP Study Visit Organization Project, and he has already attended two different EU funded and CEDEFOP organized Study Visits in United Kingdom and in Germany. Cetinkaya manages and directs current ECVET TC-NET Project's local partner operations since May 2009.
